A Design Built Around the Land, Not Against It

Perry Dye — son of golf design legend Pete Dye — brought his family's signature philosophy of strategic, character-driven design to Green Valley Ranch when the course opened in 2001. Rather than bulldozing the site into a blank canvas, Dye routed the course around the property's existing creeks, wetlands, and stands of mature cottonwood trees, preserving a sense of natural Colorado prairie that many purpose-built municipal courses lack. Perry Dye has designed more than 80 courses across 15 countries through Dye Designs, the firm founded by his father in 1984, and Green Valley Ranch stands as one of his more environmentally conscious Denver-area projects — a course that plays as a genuine landscape rather than a manufactured one.
