Venue Overview
Eisenhower Golf Club is a celebrated 36-hole military golf facility located at the United States Air Force Academy, just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower — who dedicated the course in 1963 — the club is home to two scenic 18-hole championship courses nestled in the foothills of the Rampart Range, with spectacular Rocky Mountain views throughout. Widely regarded as one of the finest golf facilities in the Department of Defense, Eisenhower pairs a storied championship pedigree with full instruction, junior, and tournament programming. As a facility on an active military installation, access is reserved for DoD ID card holders and their guests.
About the Club
Eisenhower Golf Club is one of the most popular destinations at the Air Force Academy, with around 400 members, two championship courses, an expansive driving range, a spacious short-game area with three chipping and pitching greens, and two large putting greens. The modern clubhouse features The Grill — serving breakfast and lunch — along with the Eisenhower Room, a pro shop, and locker rooms. As the home course of the Air Force Academy's intercollegiate golf team, Eisenhower hosts a Division I tournament each September, the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, drawing two dozen NCAA D-I programs.
Club features:
- Two 18-hole championship courses (Blue and Silver)
- Expansive driving range and short-game area
- Three chipping and pitching greens, two putting greens
- Modern clubhouse with The Grill and pro shop
- PGA instruction, clinics, and junior programs
- Club and cart rentals available
- Reservations recommended, especially in summer
The Blue Course
The Blue Course is the crown jewel — the only original Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout in the state of Colorado. Opened in 1959, it stretches to roughly 7,500 yards at par 72, with large greens, long teeing grounds, and fairway bunkers that demand a serious carry. Named the top Department of Defense golf course by Travel + Leisure and ranked among the best courses in Colorado by Golf Digest, the Blue Course has been played by golf legends including Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Johnny Miller, Tom Kite, and Tiger Woods. In a milestone moment, it became the first military golf course to host a USGA national championship, welcoming 156 of the world's top junior female golfers for the U.S. Girls' Junior. Five sets of tees accommodate players of all skill levels.
The Silver Course
Designed by acclaimed Colorado architect Frank Hummel and opened in 1977, the Silver Course is the newer of the two and a perfect complement to the Blue. A par 72 measuring around 6,400 yards, it places a premium on accuracy rather than length, with fast, tricky greens, narrower fairways, and numerous hazards. Built in a beautiful setting with sweeping mountain views — and a view of the iconic Cadet Chapel — the Silver Course offers a demanding, scenic round with no out-of-bounds.
Golf Lessons & Instruction
Eisenhower Golf Club offers golf instruction, clinics, and a summer junior golf program, all conducted by its PGA staff. As of 2026, the teaching team includes:
- Theo Gregory, PGA — Director of Golf, who oversees the club's member events and programming.
- John Trujillo Jr., PGA — PGA Teaching Professional handling a large share of the club's lessons and player development.
- Mark Kelbel, PGA — PGA Teaching Professional focused on lessons and player development.
The club's player-development program includes two large junior camps each summer for golfers ages 7–17, along with PGA Jr. League teams. To arrange instruction or register for a camp, contact the pro shop.
Tournaments & Events
Eisenhower runs a full tournament schedule across the spring, summer, and fall, and is home to the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, the 54-hole NCAA Division I tournament held each September. The club also offers wedding catering and event services through its clubhouse. Because the facility is located on an active military installation, tournament play, events, and tee times are reserved for DoD ID card holders and their sponsored guests.
Event types hosted:
- Club and member tournaments
- Collegiate and championship golf
- Junior camps and PGA Jr. League play
- Weddings and clubhouse events (for eligible patrons)
Access & Eligibility
Eisenhower Golf Club is located on the grounds of the U.S. Air Force Academy, an active military installation. Use of the course is limited to DoD ID card holders — including active-duty military, retirees, reservists, National Guard, and certain government employees — along with their guests. DoD card holders may bring guests, but only card holders can schedule a tee time. Reservations are recommended, particularly during the busy summer season.
