Tuesday’s Tournament Tip: Event Technology 💻

Golf Tournament Technology: Tools That Make Events Run Better

Technology has quietly transformed how golf tournaments are run — what used to mean paper forms, a clipboard of scores, and a stack of spreadsheets can now be handled in a fraction of the time, with a better experience for players on top. As the founder of Colorado Under Par, I’ve watched the right tools turn the chaotic parts of running an event into the smooth parts. Here’s what golf event technology can do for you, and where it’s headed.

Online registration and event management

The biggest time-saver is moving registration and management online. Instead of juggling spreadsheets and chasing payments by email, a proper system lets players sign up and pay in a few taps, gives you a live count of your field, captures add-on sales automatically, and keeps participant data in one place. It cuts hours of admin and reduces the errors that creep in when you’re managing an event by hand. (We go deep on this in our complete guide to golf tournament registration.)

Mobile access for players

Today’s players expect information at their fingertips. The direction the whole industry is moving is mobile-first: players checking the schedule, course map, their starting hole, and real-time updates from their phone, rather than squinting at a printed sheet. Anything that puts the day’s details in a player’s pocket makes your event feel more modern and reduces the “where do I go, what time is it?” questions that otherwise flood your check-in.

Live scoring and leaderboards

Live scoring is one of the most engaging additions to a tournament. When players and spectators can see real-time standings — who’s leading, how their group stacks up — it adds a layer of competition and energy that a paper scorecard tallied at the end can’t match. It’s especially popular with competitive and corporate fields, and it makes the awards moment more exciting because everyone’s been following along. This is exactly the kind of experience modern golf platforms are building toward.

Reaching people who aren’t there

Technology also extends your event beyond the people on the course. Live streaming or simply sharing real-time photos and video lets friends, family, sponsors, and supporters who couldn’t attend feel part of the day — and it raises your event’s visibility, which helps attract players and sponsors for next year. Even a few live posts and a recap video (see our photography guide) extend your reach well past the field.

Where Colorado Under Par fits

Colorado Under Par is building toward exactly this kind of modern, tech-enabled experience for golf events — making it easier to list, promote, and run tournaments in one place. Today, you can list your golf tournament on Colorado Under Par’s Discover Events page, where golfers across the state come to find events to play, and put your tournament in front of the right audience. As the platform grows, more of the tools above come together in one place built specifically for golf events.

Final thoughts

The right technology doesn’t replace good organizing — it removes the friction from it. Move registration online, give players mobile access to the details, add live scoring for energy, and use streaming and content to reach beyond the course. Each one saves you time and makes the experience better for everyone, and together they’re what separate a modern golf event from one still run on paper.

When you’re ready to run your next one, you can list your golf tournament free on Colorado Under Par and reach players across the state. For events that want a polished, promoted presence, our Amplify tiers help your tournament stand out.

Apply for Event Management

Event Management Application (2027)
CUP manages 10 sporting events per season, and that is the cap.
Applications for the 2027 season are reviewed starting October 1, 2026. Returning clients confirm their dates first, then remaining slots go to new clients. This is an application, not a booking, and it takes about 6 minutes.

Your organization

Who is hosting, and how we reach you.

Beneficiary

Only if the event raises money for a cause.

Your sporting event

The basics we need to judge fit.

Out-of-state note: our standard pricing covers events held in Colorado. Events outside Colorado are quoted individually with travel and on-site costs included.
Worth knowing before you submit: our fully-managed service starts at 100 people on site. Below that the economics do not work for either of us, so this is likely not a fit. You can still apply, and you can always list your sporting event on the CUP calendar instead.
This one gets a custom quote. Our standard service model covers single-day events with 100 to 160 people on site, including vendors. Larger fields and multi-day events still work, we just scope them and send a custom quote instead of a standard price.

What success looks like

So we can tell you straight whether we are the right team.

Budget and timing

Fully-managed service is a real line item. Straight answers save us both time.

A CUP engagement runs roughly 150 to 200 hours of planning, design, marketing and coordination, handled by one team from the first call to the final award. Applications need a real budget line for professional management, separate from venue, food and prizes.
Worth knowing before you submit: a fully-managed engagement sits above this range, so this is likely not a fit for 2027. You are welcome to apply anyway. If self-serve is the better move right now, you can list your sporting event and add promotion here: list your event.
