Venue Overview
Beaver Creek Golf Club is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. mountain course at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain in the Vail Valley, one of the longest-established and most scenic courses in the area. Opened in 1982 and managed by Vail Resorts, the par-70 layout threads down and back up a steep, creek-lined valley beneath the 11,000-foot peaks of the Gore Range, with more than 500 feet of elevation change and Beaver Creek itself winding through 13 holes. Set within the European-themed Beaver Creek Resort, it pairs demanding, breathtaking mountain golf with first-class resort service, right down to the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies handed out on the course each afternoon. It makes an unforgettable setting for a resort golf trip, outing, or group event.
About the Course
Beaver Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-70 mountain course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1982. Built straight down and then back up the mountain through stands of pine and aspen, it is known for long, narrow fairways, dramatic elevation, and a winding creek that defines the challenge. Managed by Vail Resorts, the course is primarily reserved for Beaver Creek Club members and resort lodging guests in summer, opening to the public in the spring and fall shoulder seasons.
Course features:
18-hole, par-70 mountain course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. 6,646 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 69.2 and a slope of 133 Opened in 1982, set at 8,100 feet elevation More than 500 feet of elevation change across the routing Beaver Creek winds through and must be carried on 13 holes Long, narrow fairways framed by pine and aspen, with five par 3s Rye grass fairways and a tough opening and closing stretch Driving range, putting green, and a full-service clubhouse Managed by Vail Resorts within the Beaver Creek Resort
The Playing Experience
Beaver Creek is mountain golf with real drama. The round plunges down the valley and climbs back up, with the toughest swings on the scorecard coming at the bookend holes, target-oriented openers and a closing par-4 that ranks among the hardest on the course. A winding creek and cross hazards demand accuracy on 13 holes, the par-3 2nd plummets downhill, and the par-5 3rd, the number one handicap, climbs uphill from the scariest drive of the day. At 8,100 feet, the ball flies far, which the design accounts for with fair distances and choices on nearly every shot. Throughout, the scenery is simply stunning, dense pine and aspen, old farmstead relics, and Gore Range peaks, and the service is pure Beaver Creek, including a ranger handing out warm chocolate chip cookies at one o’clock each afternoon.
