Venue Overview

Resting at 7,400 feet within the San Juan National Forest between downtown Durango and Purgatory Resort, Glacier Club is a private mountain and golf community built around two award-winning 18-hole courses. Members and their guests have access to 36 holes of championship golf, two full clubhouses, multiple dining venues, and a resort-level slate of amenities, all set against the dramatic, glacier-carved terrain that gives the club its name. Glacier is a membership-access private club; play is arranged through club members or through a Glacier membership itself.

About the Course

Glacier's Mountain Course was designed by Todd Schoeder alongside three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin, using the property's dramatic topography and natural rock formations to create a routing that tests every part of a golfer's game beneath panoramic peak views. The Valley Course, originally laid out in 1976 by renowned architect Arthur Hills, has since been modernized with new bunkering, added hazards, and fast, undulating greens, along with strategic tee-to-green options that reward smart course management. Golfers will find significant elevation change, tree-lined doglegs, and mountain views on both courses, giving Glacier's 36 holes real variety across a single membership.

Practice Facilities

Both the Mountain and Valley courses are supported by dedicated practice facilities, including driving ranges and putting and chipping greens set against the same panoramic mountain scenery found on the courses themselves. An indoor golf simulator lounge extends practice and play options into the shoulder seasons and winter months, letting members work on their games year-round. The practice areas sit within easy reach of both clubhouses, so members can warm up before a round or stay after to work on specific parts of their game.

Dining and Amenities

Glacier's dining lineup spans casual to refined. Prospector at Glacier, located next to the Valley Clubhouse, serves refined mountain fare and is open to the public, while Mineshaft Bar & Grill offers a relaxed, casual American menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner within the Valley Clubhouse. Members also have exclusive access to the Mountain Clubhouse Restaurant for locally sourced fine dining and curated wines, and to Cassidy's, a tavern-style pub within the Mountain Clubhouse built for easy, no-dress-code gatherings after the round. Beyond golf and dining, Glacier's amenities include two full clubhouses, three swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, fitness centers, and a general store, giving members a complete mountain lifestyle well beyond 18 holes.

Lessons & Instruction

Golf instruction at Glacier is led by a PGA-certified staff based across both clubhouses.

  • Regina Dillon, PGA — Head Golf Professional
  • Isaac Johnston, PGA — Assistant Golf Professional

The Glacier golf staff offers private and group lessons for members and their guests across all skill levels, with instruction available on both the Mountain and Valley courses.

Tournaments & Events

Glacier hosts a full calendar of member golf events across both courses each season, with a dedicated golf events schedule published for the club's four membership tiers. The club's two clubhouses, multiple dining venues, and dramatic mountain setting also make Glacier a sought-after location for member-sponsored social events, tournaments, and celebrations throughout the year. Seasonal highlights typically include club championships, member-guest invitationals, and social mixers that take advantage of both the Mountain and Valley courses.

Planning Your Event Here

As a private club, Glacier hosts golf tournaments, member-guest events, and private celebrations through member sponsorship rather than public booking. Members can reserve tee times across the Mountain or Valley courses, arrange a private dining event at Prospector, Mineshaft, the Mountain Clubhouse Restaurant, or Cassidy's, and work with the golf staff to build a custom tournament format for a member-guest outing or club championship. Prospective members and event sponsors can inquire directly with Glacier's membership team to explore hosting an event at the club.
