SKILL LEVELS EXPLAINED
Learn to play – Perfect for brand-new players or those curious about pickleball. This introductory session covers the basics: rules, scoring, court positioning, and fundamental shots (serve, return, dinks, and volleys). Participants will rotate through guided drills and light gameplay in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Paddles may be provided if needed.
Best for: First-time players or those with very limited experience.
Beginner – For players who know the basics and are ready for structured gameplay. Participants understand scoring and court positioning and can sustain short rallies. This division focuses on consistency, improving shot control, and building confidence in match play. Games will be recreational but slightly competitive.
Best for: Players rated around 2.0–3.0 or newer players who have played socially.
Intermediate – For players comfortable with strategy and sustained rallies. Participants can control pace, place shots intentionally, and understand basic strategies such as third-shot drops and kitchen play. Matches will be more competitive, with consistent rallying and purposeful point construction.
Best for: Players rated approximately 3.0–3.5.
Advanced – For experienced, competitive players. Participants demonstrate strong shot control, strategic play, consistent third-shot execution, and effective net play. Matches will be fast-paced and competitive. This division is intended for confident, tournament-experienced players.
Best for: Players rated 3.5+ or with regular tournament experience.
Adaptive/Gentle Play – Designed to create an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with physical or neurological conditions. Rules, court size, scoring, and gameplay pace may be modified to ensure safety, comfort, and success. Volunteer partners or support players may be available. The focus is on movement, connection, and enjoyment rather than competition.
Best for: Individuals who benefit from adaptive play or have mobility challenges.
