Venue Overview

Spring Valley Golf Club is a privately owned, public 18-hole golf course in Elizabeth, Colorado, set on 429 acres of rolling hills at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet. Designed by architect Ross Graves and opened in 1997 after more than three years of construction, Spring Valley plays to a par of 72 across 7,180 yards from the championship tees, with a course rating of 72.1 and a slope of 135, as Running Creek and towering cottonwood trees wind through the layout.

About the Course

Ross Graves’ design took full advantage of Spring Valley’s high-elevation, rolling terrain, threading the course through 429 acres bordered by Running Creek and mature cottonwood trees. The result is a genuinely challenging test, a 72.1 rating and 135 slope from the tips, set against a backdrop that has earned Spring Valley a reputation as one of the most scenic public courses in the southeast Denver metro. The course took over three years to build, a longer construction timeline than most Colorado courses of its era, reflecting the complexity of routing a championship layout through the property’s elevation changes.

A High-Elevation Test With a Country Lodge Feel

Spring Valley pairs a legitimately demanding layout with a clubhouse experience built around community, the ownership describes it as “more than just a golf course,” with the Bluebird Restaurant & Tavern serving as a gathering spot styled after an upscale country lodge. That combination of serious golf and a welcoming, social clubhouse has helped Spring Valley build a loyal membership base and a strong reputation among Denver-area public golfers looking for a mountain-adjacent round without leaving the metro area.
