Venue Overview

City Park Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal golf course in central Denver, Colorado, set inside the city's largest urban park with downtown skyline and mountain views from nearly every hole. A LEED Gold-certified redesign completed in recent years transformed the course into a national model for combining championship-caliber municipal golf with storm water flood mitigation, earning City Park recognition from the American Society of Golf Course Architects and the national engineering and construction press alongside its longstanding reputation as one of Denver’s most scenic public rounds.

About the Course

City Park sits within Denver’s largest and most historic public park, and the golf course takes full advantage of its setting — routing play through mature parkland with unobstructed views of the downtown skyline on one side and the Front Range on the other. The course underwent a major redesign led by golf course architect Todd Schroeder, rebuilding the layout to both modernize play and serve a second purpose: managing storm water for the surrounding neighborhood.

An Award-Winning Redesign

City Park’s redesign is LEED Gold certified, integrating storm water detention directly into the golf course to help manage flooding for the surrounding area — a design approach that earned architect Todd Schroeder recognition as a 2018 ASGCA Design Recognition honoree and helped the project win an Engineering News-Record “Best of the Best Projects” national award. The course’s clubhouse patio was also named a Top Patio by 5280 magazine’s “Top Of The Town” awards in 2022, reflecting the views and atmosphere that come with the park setting. As part of the redesign, City Park added a dedicated 4-hole course built specifically for First Tee of Denver, giving the youth development program a permanent home on-site alongside the championship 18.

City Park Golf Course’s teaching staff, as of 2026, includes:

• Chris Hamilton, PGA, Head Golf Professional — a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and the PGA Golf Management program, Chris is a PGA Certified Player Development Professional (2017) based at City Park.
• Rick Yeoman, PGA Associate, Assistant Golf Professional — a graduate of Ohio University, Rick teaches alongside Chris as part of City Park’s on-site golf staff.

City Park is part of the citywide Denver Golf events program and, with its First Tee of Denver youth course on-site, plays a central role in the city’s junior golf development.
