Instead\, she found herself in a fight for her life. The 16-year-old from Aspen had just jumped into the water after a scuba dive with her family when two sharks attacked her. She lost her leg and suffered severe hand injuries\, but the trauma didn’t end there. A rare infection developed in her leg\, requiring months of treatment and 11 surgeries. Her journey to recovery began at Children’s Hospital Colorado\, where donor-supported programs\, and a team of compassionate nurses\, helped her heal not just physically\, but emotionally. Transferred from her local hospital in Aspen\, Annabelle arrived at Children’s Colorado with a serious infection. Her care team included orthopedic surgeons\, infectious disease specialists\, pain management experts\, and prosthetics professionals. But it was the sixth-floor nurses who helped her feel like herself again. “They made me feel clean and comfortable\,” Annabelle said. They helped me get back into a routine\, doing things I used to do with two legs.” Every time Annabelle returns to Children’s Colorado\, she looks forward to seeing the nurses who helped her through the hardest moments of her recovery. DESCRIPTION:The Max Plumb Memorial Golf Tournament returns for its sixth year at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden\, hosted by the Applewood Community Foundation. \nThe tournament honours Max Plumb\, son of Applewood Community Foundation board member Sean Plumb\, who was lost to addiction in September 2020. Proceeds support the Max Plumb Scholarship Fund at Jefferson Center for Mental Health\, which funds client-centred mental health\, substance use and wellness services. The Foundation has contributed more than $100\,000 to Jefferson Center to date\, and since 2023 has used tournament proceeds as a match on Colorado Gives Day\, raising a further $250\,000. \nSchedule7:30 a.m.\, check-in and coffee\, practice range open9:00 a.m.\, shotgun start1:30 p.m.\, tournament lunch and awards \nPlayer registration includes 18 holes of championship golf with cart\, grab-and-go breakfast\, post-tournament lunch\, contests\, prizes and drawings\, and the post-tournament awards celebration. On-course contests\, games and activations run throughout the day for an additional donation.
